Sandy Scott: A Retrospective
The National Museum of Wildlife Art will host Sandy Scott: A Retrospective. Scott received her formal art training at the Kansas City Art Institute and later worked as an animation background artist in the motion picture industry. She turned her attention to etchings and printmaking in the 1970’s and to sculpture in the 1980’s. Scott is an avid outdoorswoman who loves to hunt and fish. Her field work allows her to get to know her subjects and to accurately present them to the viewer.
Scott has received awards from the National Academy of Design, the Allied Artists, the New York Pen and Brush, the American Artist’s Professional League, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and a Gold Medal from the National Academy of Western Art. She is a member of the American Artist’s Professional League, the Society of Animal Artists, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and the Northwest Rendezvous Group. Scott’s work is recognized in many museums and private collections, including the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Miramichi Salmon Museum in Canada, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art.
The retrospective runs October 22, 2016 – April 16, 2017 at the Jackson, WY museum.
