Rina Oh in Pop-Up Exhibition for Anna Delvey
In March, Rina Oh participated in a pop-up group exhibition on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Titled “Free Anna Delvey” the exhibition was dedicated to the convicted fraudster and art forger of the same name. The Russian-born German (whose real last name is Sorokin), masqueraded as a wealthy heiress in NYC from 2013 – 2017 and conned major financial institutions, banks, hotels, and acquaintances out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Netflix created a series on the scam artist titled “Inventing Anna”. The downtown show included works by 33 artists who sympathized with the grifter’s plight and a portion of the sales from the exhibition reportedly went to Delvey’s defense fund. Delvey is currently being held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and awaiting deportation to Germany.
