David Richardson
The National Sculpture Society (NSS) is awarding the 2021 SEWE Participation Scholarship to David Richardson. The Scholarship is given to an emerging wildlife sculptor. NSS Elected Members Don Rambadt, Walter Matia and Alexa King served as this year’s jurors.
Growing up in the sculpture community of Loveland, CO, provided Richardson with ample opportunities to work with master sculptors, including Dan Ostermiller and Kent Ullberg. In 2009, Richardson opened his own studio to further his career. He regularly participates in the celebrated annual outdoor show, Sculpture in the Park (Loveland, CO) and is currently exhibiting in the NSS 88th Annual Awards Exhibition at Brookgreen Gardens (Pawleys Island, SC). Richardson recently installed ‘Megumi’, a great blue heron statue, on the grounds of the McCarty-Fickel Home Museum (Berthoud, CO).
As the 2021 Scholarship recipient, Richardson will receive complimentary entrance to NSS’ Sculpture Conference which will take place in June 2022 at Chesterwood (Stockbridge, MA), the studio of former NSS President Daniel Chester French. The Scholarship is funded in part by the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE), a celebration of the great outdoors through fine art, live entertainment, and special events.
