Meredith Bergmann
Meredith Bergmann, NSS will receive the Cooper Union Alumni Association Augustus Saint-Gaudens Award in May 2019
Meredith is a sculptor, poet, and essayist. Her work explores issues of social justice, race, human rights, and the human condition. Recently, she was selected as the sculptor of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Memorial for Central Park’s Literary Walk.
Meredith has also worked as a Production Designer on five feature films. Her essays, reviews, and poems have been published in The American Arts Quarterly, Barrow Street, and The New Criterion. Through sculpture, she takes the past and brings it to the present by addressing the concerns of modern life with her visual narrative. Meredith’s public works include: the FDR Hope Memorial on Roosevelt Island; the Boston Women’s Memorial; Pinky, a sculpture of enslaved child Sally Diggs, for the Brooklyn Historical Society; and the September 11th Memorial at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
