Jason Arkles Talk
On June 15, join National Sculpture Society for a talk by Jason Arkles, the host of the popular podcast, The Sculptor’s Funeral.
Arkles is a popular and sought-after lecturer on art history, bringing to the lecturer’s podium the perspective of a practitioner rather than that of an art historian. He has lectured at the ‘big three’ ateliers in Florence – the Charles H. Cecil studio, The Florence Academy of Art, and the Angel Academy. After receiving numerous requests to put his engaging lectures online for others to enjoy, the idea for his podcast was born. In addition, Arkles is part of the Art History Department at the British Institute of Florence, runs a teaching studio in Florence and is working on a third book which will detail sculpture techniques practiced by the ateliers of 19th century France.
Arkles talk is titled “Why Sculpture is Boring (again) and What We Might do About It.”
