Gary L. Sussman
“If I Had a Hammer”
a film by Christopher Lukas
Pete Seeger’s legacy is the heart of this documentary film. It follows his rise to become an American folk singer and a social and environmental activist. The film also captures the restoration of the Sloop Clearwater’s hull, which Seeger founded fifty years ago, and the three-year creation of the Pete Seeger monument by Gary L. Sussman, FNSS. In the end, Seeger’s social and environmental message is even more prescient today.
A cocktail reception follows the first viewing with related insights from Judith Enck, Visiting Professor, Senior Fellow at Bennington College and former President of the Sloop Clearwater, followed by Greg Williams, Executive Director, Sloop Clearwater, with closing remarks by the artist.
