National Sculpture Society is pleased to welcome our new Elected Sculptor Members:

Lewis Bryden – Bryden is an oil painter and sculptor who has exhibited in over 20 solo exhibitions in the U.S. and has been the subject of several exhibitions in Mexico and China. He is represented by R. Michelson Gallery in Northampton, MA.

Dan Burgette – In 2004, after twenty-seven years working as a ranger in Grand Teton National Park, Burgette retired from the National Park Service to pursue a full-time career as a sculptor. He is represented by RARE Gallery in Jackson, WY and Martin Gallery in Charleston, SC.

Matthew James Collins – In 2018, Collins opened his own atelier, Atelier Matthew James Collins, in Florence, Italy.  He is represented by Michael LaConte Gallery in Chicago, IL and Galleria Cipriani in Florence, Italy.

Darla Jackson – In 2011, Jackson, with the support of the Knight Foundation, founded the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym, a members-based community sculpture studio. She teaches at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and is represented by Jeffrey Meier Gallery in Lambertville, NJ and The Graphic Art Room in Tremelo, Belgium.

Timothy Nimmo – In 2018, Nimmo won NSS’ Marilyn Newmark Memorial Grant, which is presented for a meritorious body of work in animal sculpture.  He is represented by Columbine Gallery in Loveland, CO; Tracy Miller Gallery in Manitou Spring, CO and Lovetts Gallery in Tulsa, OK.

Mardie Rees – Rees received her BFA from Laguna College of Art and Design and has received accolades from the Portrait Society of America, the Art Renewal Center and Allied Artists of America.  In 2015, She started Apprentice Academy, an art school focused on teaching fine art fundamentals to kids and adults.

Dave Richardson – Growing up around Loveland, CO, gave Richardson ample opportunities to work with master sculptors including Dan Ostermiller and Kent Ullberg.  In 2009, Richardson opened his own studio to pursue his own career. He has since done work for Fusion Specialties in Denver, CO and Distortions Unlimited in Greeley, CO.

James Sondow – Sondow is the first, and currently only American, to graduate with highest honors from Ilya Repin State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg, Russia.  He teaches at the Princeton Academy of Art in Princeton, NJ.

Benjamin Victor – In 2018, Victor won NSS’ Alex J. Ettl Grant, which is presented for a meritorious body of work.  He is the Artist-in-Residence and Professor of the Practice at Boise State University and has two sculptures in the National Statuary Hall at the United States Capitol.

According to NSS’ by-laws, a sculptor of approved merit shall become a Sculptor Member upon the nomination by the Board by a majority vote (or unanimous written consent), and by the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the Fellows, Sculptor Members, and Directors at a General Meeting or special meeting of the members of the Society.
