Amelia Earhart by George Lundeen, FNSS, Unveiled at National Statuary Hall
In July, George Lundeen’s bronze, Amelia Earhart, was unveiled at the Capitol’s National Statuary Hall. The 10-foot tall bronze of the aviator represents the state of Kansas, Earhart’s home state. The sculpture was celebrated in a ceremony attended by Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi; Kansas Governor Laura Kelly; and former Kansas Senator Jerry Moran. Amelia Earhart replaces a statue of Kansas Senator John James Ingalls and is the 11th woman honored with a statue in the collection.
